Official Guild Event DiscussionHalf the fun of roleplaying in an MMO is being able to connect with other players and build stories together. This guild is heavily founded on the principle of sharing our ideas and flexing our creativity as a team.
The last thing we want as an admin team is to make everyone feel like extras in OUR story. This guild belongs to the roleplayers, and we want everyone to feel they have the ability to build their own stories and communities within the framework of The Tamriel Players.
While official guild events will ultimately be designed by the GM and admin team, we want your input. Where would you like to see the story go? What is fun to you? Why do you roleplay, and what types of scenarios would you like us to design? We may not be able to implement every single idea, but our goal is to create something you want to be a part of, and something you feel belongs, in part, to you too.
This is your space to share your ideas for our “greater guild story” or any event or story-line you’d like to see the guild host as an “official event.” The prompt has been set in our Current Arc thread, and from this we will set things in motion. Where things go after the first event, the consequences that this campaign could bring, will all be determined by the players.
However, you don’t have to only discuss things related to our current plot. Dream big. Make requests. Nothing is off the table to discuss for RP events so long as it doesn’t violate the Guild Rules.

Hey, guys! I wanted to bring up a few things before we begin discussion, mostly about how larger guild events will probably be run.
Similar to D&D, many of our large IC guild events may have what we will call a “DM” (dungeon master) helping narrate major actions, as well as playing NPC side-characters or villains. Sometimes there may be volunteers to help fill these roles, sometimes not. This shouldn't affect your ability to do freeform roleplay. On the contrary, we only have DMs in place to help keep things organized and flowing during large events.
There are a few potential concerns I want to address to help ease any worries:
- We never expect you to “follow our story.” We create situations for you to explore, not rigid plots, and they only have a very loose framework of what is happening and why. Generally speaking, all events will be DRAMATICALLY affected by the player’s choices. Unless you are volunteering to play an NPC villain for an event-- and even then-- we’ll never hand you a script. We want to listen to our players, so how you respond to things will greatly determine where the story itself goes when a GM or admin is DMing an event.
- When a DM is overseeing an event, playing NPCs or narrating actions for players, a certain amount of trust is involved. Especially in freeform roleplay. We don't have dice, we don't have official stats. When a DM says there's a "high chance of poison" for a certain situation, we are trusting the players to incorporate this creatively without forcing them or telling them to. The players must trust the DM to respect the players, their goals, wants, and needs in the roleplay, but they must also trust the DM enough to occasionally LOSE. Opportunities may arise for your character to be affected by an enchantment, become kidnapped, locked in a dungeon, infected by an illness, or even injured very severely-- but you must TRUST that the DMs will never kill your character (unless you ask us to), and will always provide opportunities for redemption. We will NEVER “write you out” or force your character to become something you don’t want it to. Anything we introduce during an event is meant for you to have FUN with.
That being said, the DM and RPer relationship cannot be “us vs. them.” DMs and storytellers RELY on players to take what is given and run with it. The DMs must trust the players to make decisions, ask questions, or introduce new elements of their own invention to influence and drive the story. As storytellers working in a group, we must develop a give-and-take relationship to keep things interesting. - DMs and admin will want to play along too. They may have characters of their own in the story as well. Obviously, in these circumstances we must police ourselves and make sure that participating GM and admin never take advantage of their position as storytellers. Everyone should feel included. There should never be demonstrations of bias or favoritism in these situations, and if any are suspected, please report them to the GM at once. All characters are, generally, on an equal playing field, and they should ALL be played with strengths AND weaknesses. Regardless of who is DMing and who is playing, ALL players should have a chance to equally participate.
This is just a really long and formal way to say: even if someone is DMing a story, we're not going to be assholes to you. No one person calls all the shots, even if someone is helping "direct" the plot.
Also, please remember that this won't apply to everything! Only certain major events will require the help of a narrator!

OOC Event #1 RecapFirst of all, thank you to everyone who attended and participated! This was a great meeting and it wouldn’t have been such a success without you!
For the IC Event coming up on Saturday (2/24) there was an overwhelming vote to start with something simple and fun: a festival. As soon as the details of the Festival have been worked out by the admin, you can expect to see a post on our Current Arc thread about it before Saturday. There were wonderful ideas for the festival suggested by all of you, and they will be taken into account and incorporated to the best of our ability before the posting goes up.
In terms of RP goals, there was a lot of interest expressed in the following:- Assassination plots: being the killer, or being the target
- Adventuring and exploring with friends
- Making IC friends
- Learning the lore better
- Political intrigue: in the form of high-value assassinations, or power struggles of some form
Several of our players offer hireable services. If you need a job done and are looking for someone to get dirty, try seeking these players out IC:- Raela, Ra’Jahaan, Pherron (Wilderqueen Company)
- Hoggan
- Dar’kar Droar
- Erur-Dan Enakain
Player Shavleth expressed interest in hiring some players to help search for valuable arcane artifacts. They’ve also expressed interest in playing a political role, so those of you who are looking for political intrigue should consider reaching out to this person to collaborate!
Here are those of you who expressed interest in being contacted for possible NPC roles:- Dar’kar Droar
- Erur-Dan Enakain
- Zahnai
I will contact you about the NPCs in the upcoming event as soon as I have more information. You do NOT have to volunteer. It’s 100% optional. I’ll DM whatever NPCs we don’t have players for.
Shavleth took a wonderful picture of everyone!!!
**If I’ve left your name off of a list, or I forgot to mention something, let me know in the thread and I’ll update the post!**

What an awesome event on Saturday! Thank you so much to everyone who came out and participated!! You guys did a great job taking the story and running with it!
For those of you who might’ve missed it, here’s a quick recap of the developments:
- A few members of the adventuring party from Wayrest met up in Woodhearth, along with several new adventurers, to investigate the plague and tower issue further.
- A very sick bosmer family man was so ill with the plague that he became feral and violent, and attempted to attack the adventurers gathered in the market. The Woodhearth guards nearly killed the man, claiming this is becoming a recurring issue, and that the man had already stabbed his wife nearly to death just moments before. The adventuring party was able to subdue the sick man relatively peacefully, and now holds him in (safeish) captivity for further care and study. The guards have agreed for the party to maintain temporary custody over this figure, in the fleeting hope that they may be able to help him.
- Several mysterious, electrical explosions were heard coming from the crystal tower. The explosions were so loud they shook the ground for several moments. The exact source remains a mystery.
- What appeared to be Altmeri mages attacked Woodhearth with summoned atronachs. They killed several of the city’s guards before the adventuring party was able to drive the attack back into the marsh.
- The party was able to capture and subdue one of these “altmer” mages-- however, upon capture, an illusion spell faded to reveal a Telvanni mage. Before the party could question this mage as to their motives, an assassin from the marsh killed the captured Dunmer with an arrow to the neck, presumably to prevent him from talking.
- The party decided to investigate the Tower itself and began the journey, pursued in the marsh and on the water by more atronach enemies.
- Traveling by boat to the small island, their ship was attacked and sank just before reaching shore. The beach was fully lined with waiting atronach enemies, as the group had clearly been expected. Unfortunately, the party would later discover that this assault was a mere distraction.
- The Crystal Tower itself was also an illusion, and the spell faded when the party reached the shore. In its place sat a Telvanni mushroom tower, but by the time the group reached its doors-- expecting a trap-- they discovered that the place had been abandoned and cleared out only moments before. The Telvanni mages sabotaged everything they left behind-- burning papers, scrolls, and journals. There was evidence of kidnapping and experimentation on the races of Tamriel to develop the terrible plague. Bosmer corpses were piled high inside the tower, left behind like trash. It was a frightening and disheartening scene for the whole group.
- The party did manage to recover ¾ of a burned journal. It’s in a strange dunmeri dialect that they are working now on translating. At first guess, it appears it could possibly be related to the research and development of the plague-- which very likely has alchemical roots.
- Though no one was very seriously injured, everyone involved returned to Woodhearth exhausted, battered, and in great need of rest.
